Troubleshooting Mindbody
The following are problems that you need to contact the administrative office during business hour to fix:
Problem: I tried to register and I was prompted to contact the 1st String Offices.
Solution: This is one of two problems (1) you are past due on your fees and the system will not let you register until your account is current. (2) You tried to register before classes were upload into Mindbody.
Q: What is the process to be considered for a work-study grant?
A: The process takes about four to six weeks for a grant for club fees and 14 business days for a grant for “The” Edge” volleyball membership dues. First submit a request for a work-study application. Second, Traci will email you a full application if you pre-qualify for the program. You will have 14 business days to return the application with documentation. Traci will contact you to set-up your interview with the work-study committee. The interview is for both the parent and the child. No more than five business days after the interview parent will be contacted on the results and award amount if you qualified.
Q: I missed the deadline for a work-study for my club fees! what can I do?
A: Submit a request for a work-study and contact Traci via email. Attend tryouts and if your child is selected for a team we will start the work-study process. Before tryouts most of the funds available tend to be claimed, but we do offer longer payment plans for qualifying families that did not meet the deadline.
Q: How do we work off our hours?
Player must complete 40 hours of service at 1st String Athletics. Jobs included: Helping with VBC practices, fund raising events, lite cleaning, and officiating for our rec program. Parents must also complete 40 hrs of service. This is dependent of the profession and/or expertise you have that can help the organization.
Q: Why are 1st String tryouts more expensive?
A: There are three reasons why our tryouts are more expensive:
This makes our tryouts more expensive because you have more costs associated with our tryouts. Please contact us or read about our work-study process if the cost of tryouts is a financial burden.
Q: What is the process for making a team?
A: First you need to attend a tryout. We prefer that all new players attend two days of tryouts to ensure that your child gets the most opportunities to be seen. For returning player one tryout is sufficient. Starting at 7:30pm on Saturdays and 5:00pm on Sundays coaches will begin calling players with the results of their evaluation and offering spots for qualified players. We call everyone back! So if you do not receive a call or an email please contact us the following day. Once you accept an offer, you must attend the signing meeting/ fitness testing session. For parents the down payment and all paperwork must be complete and for players we will be conducting a volleyball based performance testing session to get baseline starting results for your child so we can track her progress throughout the season.
Winter practices for all power and area teams start the week of November 28th to December 11th. All teams have winter break from December 12th to Jan 2nd and practice for power, area, and rec start January 3rd.
Q: What does a verbal commitment mean?
A: The evening of tryouts, coaches will call the players they want on their teams. By accepting the position on the team you are making a verbal commitment to the program. A verbal is not binding, however we take verbal commitments VERY seriously. We ask all parents and players to be honest with our coaches. If you are attending other tryouts, or you are waiting for another offer for a different club don’t be afraid to inform the coach. Making a verbal commitment to a team means that another player will NOT be offered the spot. If you accept offers from numerous clubs to “hold” your spot on a team you are affecting the future of numerous other players and doing irreparable damage to your reputation as a player.
Clubs do remember players and families that break verbal commitments to clubs and will not offer positions on their team to those players the following season. Honesty is the best policy when making a verbal commitment.
Q: Do I have to attend the signing meeting and fitness testing?
A: YES! All signing meetings will be on Monday November 14th and Tuesday November 15th at 1st String Athletics starting at 4pm, 5:30pm, or 7:30pm. Players must come dressed to workout.

A: We leave travel cost to our parents so they can look for the best deals for their child’s travel. Below are our estimates of travel cost by tournament (price per person).
** These are estimates, some fare, charges and cost may vary.
